Welcome back to my blog, where today we dive into an insightful review of one of my students currently doing two courses at my Art Academy. These courses, are as experienced by Lauren Battistini, a color consultant turned artist. Lauren shares her journey through two pivotal courses offered by the Academy, shedding light on how they are shaping her artistic and entrepreneurial journey.

Art Explorer Course: Discovering Artistic Style

Lauren begins by discussing the Art Explorer course, which she is currently undertaking. She says, “Every day I receive assignments through email, they take you through different subjects, art techniques, themes, and research that you have to do before you even create a piece.”

This course, pivotal in helping Lauren discover her unique artistic style, includes a variety of assignments, some of which are timed, fostering a diverse learning experience.

One assignment that stood out for her was the hands exercise. Lauren describes it: “I was charted to sketch my non-dominant hand ten times, five minutes each…transfer it to watercolor paper, and show all the beautiful effects of the skin and the different pigments represented in this rendering.”

This exercise not only honed her skills but also inspired her to create a series called “Connectedness.”

On The Artrepreneur Course: Launching an Art Career

The second course, The Artrepreneur, is specifically designed for those serious about pursuing a career in art, like Lauren. She emphasizes its importance: “This is a very important course for me… Wendy introduces you to everything you need to do methodically, step-by-step to launch your own brand.”

Lauren is concurrently working on this course while completing the Art Explorer, driven by her eagerness to launch her art career.

The Artrepreneur course delves into the practical aspects of building an art business, including daily workflow, documenting and shipping art, and effective marketing. Lauren highlights the significance of storytelling in art, saying, “What art do I create? Why do I create it? How do I create it? Because in order for people to really buy your art, they need to understand who you are, why you do what you do.”

Key Takeaways and Lauren’s Journey

The most valuable takeaway for Lauren has been establishing a daily routine and a methodical approach to her art business. She stresses, “Art is both creativity and business and marketing, and the two go hand-in-hand.” This balance is crucial for anyone aspiring to make a career in art.

As a single mom and a podcast host, Lauren juggles multiple responsibilities while pursuing her passion. Her story is a testament to the notion that art can be a viable and profitable career path, not just a passion project.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, Lauren Battistini highly recommends the Wendy Buiter Art Academy courses to anyone serious about a career in art, stating, “I think that you’ll be abundantly blessed as a result.” Her experience, as a student juggling various roles and responsibilities, exemplifies the effectiveness and flexibility of these courses in nurturing both the creative and entrepreneurial spirits of aspiring artists.
