Villa Necchi Campiglio was one of the highlights of my trip to Milan. I’ve always been fascinated by architecture, especially the elegant homes of the 1930s, beautiful interiors and Art Deco design. But I’m equally fascinated by innovation. Not just today’s technology, but the ideas and inventions that were decades ahead of their time. Built in the 1930s, this villa was remarkably modern, featuring central heating, one of Italy’s earliest residential air-conditioning systems, a private swimming pool and even a tennis court.

I’ve also always loved getting a glimpse into how people lived. That’s exactly what makes this place so special. It doesn’t feel like a museum. It feels as though you’ve quietly stepped into someone’s home, where every room tells another part of the family’s story. As you wander through the villa, you discover beautifully preserved interiors, elegant furniture and original drawings by Picasso, Matisse and Modigliani, quietly displayed throughout the house.

It’s the kind of place that reminds you true elegance never goes out of style. If you’re visiting Milan, I highly recommend adding Villa Necchi Campiglio to your itinerary.
