The story behind Miss Dior
As an artist with a background in makeup artistry, I’ve always had an instinctive eye for faces. For details. For the kind of beauty that’s not only seen, but felt. My painting Miss Dior was inspired by a Dior pre-fall 2020 ad campaign with the image of Jennifer Lawrence, a moment of elegance captured in Dior’s signature style.
The campaign struck me immediately. Jennifer’s face, softly lit yet powerful. The contrast in the composition. The subtle asymmetry of her earring. It all came together in a way that felt sculptural. Iconic. Worth translating into paint.
Like many of my works, this piece began with admiration, for the feminine mystique that ads try to evoke, and for the timeless glamour of luxury fashion campaigns. I often draw inspiration from cosmetics visuals, perfume advertisements, fine jewelry, and couture, not just because I love them, but because they echo the world I paint.
