Recently, I had the pleasure of hosting a private art class with a lovely mother-daughter duo, Mandy and Marjolein. It was an incredibly special day, filled with creativity, laughter, and a wonderful sense of accomplishment as they both worked on their masterpieces.
What made this session even more meaningful for me is that Marjolein is actually family! We discovered that she’s a distant cousin, the daughter of my grandmother’s brother. How amazing to think that creativity runs in the family, connecting us through generations. It was heartwarming to see both Mandy and Marjolein enjoying the experience together, as mother and daughter.
Before we began, we took the time to discuss in detail what they envisioned for their artwork. From the pose and colors to the hairstyle and accessories, we carefully planned every element to make sure the final pieces reflected their unique styles and preferences. They even chose the frames for their artworks, so the moment they finished, we could frame them right away and send them home with beautiful, ready-to-hang creations.
One thing that added a layer of challenge to this experience was that Marjolein has a visual impairment. Due to spots on her retina, she can’t see clearly and had to move her head around to fully grasp the details of her work. But that didn’t stop her from creating something beautiful. With a little extra guidance from me, and lots of encouragement from Mandy, she was able to overcome the challenge and express herself on the canvas. It was inspiring to see her determination and focus.
Throughout the day, we took small breaks to recharge, with coffee, healthy snacks, and a delicious, wholesome lunch that fueled our creative energy. But make no mistake—this was no leisurely day off. Mandy and Marjolijn worked hard, concentrating on every detail of their paintings. I was there every step of the way, offering advice, feedback, and a helping hand when needed, to ensure their vision came to life.
Before finishing their paintings, Mandy and Marjolein had to do something nerve-wracking: sign their names on their artwork! We practiced on a separate piece of paper first to make sure they were confident. Thankfully, it went perfectly! They also wrote the title of their pieces on the back—Marjolein named hers Blue Butterfly because of her love for butterflies, while Mandy called hers Precieux, reflecting its preciousness.
By the end of the day, they had each created a stunning artwork that they were incredibly proud of. We framed the pieces right away, so they could take them home and hang them on their walls as a memory of this special day together.
These Private Art Classes aren’t something I do often, but I decided to make an exception this time since I had a little more time in my schedule. Who knows when I’ll be able to offer them again? So, if you’ve been thinking about booking one for yourself or as a unique experience with a loved one, don’t wait too long. Head over to my website to secure your spot before the opportunity slips away.
For Mandy and Marjolein, it was a day full of connection, creativity, and family. I’m so glad I could be part of their artistic journey and help them create something that they can cherish forever.
If this sounds like something you’d love to experience, don’t wait—book a private art class on my website! This is a limited-time offer, and I don’t normally do this, but I’ve got some extra time right now, so why not? Let’s create something beautiful together!
Love,
Wendy
